Name one element of rock in The Great Gig In The Sky.
Immigrant Song = SWOOTPANTS
Alien Ant Farm - Glow
Stance Punks - Hana wo Soeru you ni
The Cure - Friday I'm in Love
The Animals - House of the Rising Sun
AAF and The Animals are cool, but I blame The Cure for the advent of emo.
gabrielwhist 01-18-2008, 10:44 PM Name one element of rock in The Great Gig In The Sky.
Its a prog rock ballad. If you are stupid to comprehend that then you don't deserve to be taught.
I blame The Cure for the advent of emo.
I'm so dissapointed in you.
but I blame The Cure for the advent of emo.
I think you mean goth, not emo.
Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.
To quote one master Lewis Black:DON'T GIVE ME THAT, IT'S PERFECT!!!!!
Siriustar 01-19-2008, 09:47 PM Blame Bauhaus or Siouxsie and the Banshees for goth.
Natus Lumen 01-19-2008, 11:25 PM Its a prog rock ballad. If you are stupid to comprehend that then you don't deserve to be taught.
The Great Gig In The Sky is not a rock song of any sort, progressive or otherwise. It was concocted by a rock prog rock band and put on a prog rock album, but that doesn't make it a prog rock song. It was not composed using traditional rock, blues, or prog rock (although 'traditional prog-rock' is somewhat of an oxymoron) time signatures and key changes. Rather, Claire Torry performed the song using jazz, fusion, opera, and soul elements. The drums and piano are not genre-specific, although both set certain moods common in many other Pink Floyd songs.noreasearchnojoke
I used to be a HUGE Pink Floyd fan. Don't doubt me.
I'm so dissapointed in you.
Why? The Cure suck and Robert Smith was pretty much the first memorable frontman to wear eye shadow, dress like a gothed-up Tim Burton character, and sing 'emo' lyrics.

I thought she was black when I first heard it.

I doubt you. You are a complete idiot.

And this complete idiocy only supports my ever degrading opinion of you.
Willy_Wonka 01-19-2008, 11:44 PM Stairway?
god damn, why do I keep making new pages?
Natus Lumen 01-20-2008, 09:04 PM I doubt you. You are a complete idiot.
And this complete idiocy only supports my ever degrading opinion of you.
I just stated plain facts as bland as they can be! There is no opinion! GGIS is not a rock song in any way!
gabrielwhist 01-20-2008, 09:31 PM 1.) Great Gig In The Sky is an AMAZING rock song. I don't give a shit if you are to stupid and stubborn to realize it. I'm not arguing it anymore.
2.) I wasn't saying that was an opinion, because it is not. It is a rock song, fact. I was saying that my opinion of you is increasingly detrimental.
3.) Your opinion on The Cure causes me to think less of you.
Natus Lumen 01-20-2008, 10:02 PM You're a stubborn fuck.
gabrielwhist 01-20-2008, 10:54 PM As are you. The only difference is, I'm right.
Siriustar 01-20-2008, 11:27 PM The Cure suck.
You are a sick, twisted individual.
Krusty_The_Klown 01-20-2008, 11:31 PM You are a sick, twisted individual.
Yea, he would be sick since he thinks cures suck. Without a cure for a disease, you're pretty much fucked medically.
Every Friday at 7 my local radio station plays "It's Friday, I'm in love". I used to listen to it while waiting for the bus but now it usually comes before 7 so I always get nostalgic for it.

Fail.
