Paramore is okay... though I do think the only reason they're popular is because Hayley can actually sing, because she took actual singing lessons as a child. Course it also helps that she's extremely pretty.

Strip their music of her flawless voice and you get all the generic stuff from pretty much any other pop/rock band of today. Not counting Misery Business... dieses Lied ist Gott. That's probably the best song that band will ever write, not that I'm saying their other stuff is crap, because it isn't. It's just generic, and that's okay.

This band isn't just about the music though... not really. If you know what I mean (I say this with NO underlying sexual innuendo).

What really pisses me off is now people can't freaking tell that Paramore is a band. The first video by them I saw, I knew it was a band, not a girl. What kind of a name is Paramore for any human being anyway? That is unless of course it's a friend's mom's maiden name...

True they're only popular because of Hayley, but she doesn't even write the music. Josh, the lead guitarist writes the music, and then Hayley puts words to it, and then Zac adds his drums to the track, and Jeremy his bass. It's a TEAM EFFORT! Not just some hot shot producer writing entire albums for one red-headed girl... it's so irritating!!! O_O

And before I get some dumb comment like "Stop being an idiot and realize that people have always only payed attention to the lead singers of bands, unless they were truly committed to them, especially when they're mainstream. It's always been that way and always will. Get over it."

Let me share an experience I've had not too long ago.

I was at Austin City Limits festival on a Friday night about seven months ago when I was attracted by a large crowd gathered around a stage to an intense pulsing beat coupled by a really cool lights display.

As I near the stage, I begin to see an odd-looking blond woman on an LCD screen above the stage. Also, the sound begins to get more defined than the beat; I begin to hear a strange, evil-sounding shrieking noise with some more electronic music.

Before I can really understand what's going on, the music stops, and people are cheering. In place of the music, I hear the same feminine voice that was shrieking in a very foreign, definitely European accent. And then it hits me! That atrocity I heard as I was approaching the stage was Bjork! Much to my dismay, the exit nearest where my parents were parked was just past the Bjork stage.

The five minutes it took to walk to that exit were awful. I felt like I was being assaulted by something foul and evil.

Bjork is love. She screeches sometimes, but that's only for effect. n00b :P

Her singing voice is amazing.

She's from Iceland, which I don't remember is part of the EU or not.

I still think this one's better.

I can't figure out how people don't like Bjork's voice. Her high-pitched wailing is, like Nicky said, for effect. A surreal, chilling effect.
