View Full Version : you guys are smart.. gussa 11-30-2007, 04:29 AM what did the blues brothers have tattooed accross their knuckles? Dunno what Jake has, I'm not good enough with Google. Siriustar 11-30-2007, 09:25 PM Elwood just has Elwood on his. Dunno what Jake has, I'm not good enough with Google. Pardon my stupidity, but didn't Elwood have 5 fingers? How does that work out? Ryu-Nacho 11-30-2007, 10:09 PM (5 fingers)(2 hands)=? gussa 12-01-2007, 03:29 AM so E L W O (next hand) O D? im making a costume i i need to remember what they had on their knuckles to make it perfect.. Ryu-Nacho 12-01-2007, 09:53 AM I stumbled onto this short line on wikipedia. "Two shots in the opening sequence of The Blues Brothers (1980) focus on Jake and Elwood's hands. Jake's has "J-A-K-E" tattooed on the knuckles of his right hand, while Elwood's has "E-L-W-O" on his right, and "O-D" on his left." That should fix ya up. Also, after some thought, the thumbs don't count, so it's be (4 fingers)(2hands). But thats still plenty. Natus Lumen 12-01-2007, 10:49 AM Well then you're on base 8, and we wouldn't have modern mathematics if we didn't have thumbs. Zetex 12-01-2007, 10:52 AM Jake has the letters 'J-A-K-E' tattooed on his left hand fingers. He also has a small crucifix with time dots on his left hand. Although he was given 2 gold-plated finger rings when he was released, the only point in the movie where he can be seen wearing a ring is on stage at the Palace Hotel. This could be because the ring would cover up the 'K' in his 'J-A-K-E' tattoo. He has removed it by the time he is confronted by Camille. 5 seconds of google. Natus Lumen 12-01-2007, 11:02 AM Search results change by the day Zetex 12-01-2007, 11:05 AM Okay? Nearly every result that showed up had the answer right in the description Google gives. Ryu-Nacho 12-01-2007, 12:24 PM Well then you're on base 8, and we wouldn't have modern mathematics if we didn't have thumbs. I don't believe thumbs have anything to do with math; either way, it's irrelevant to the topic about having tattoos on your knuckles. MrNaPaLm32 12-01-2007, 12:32 PM Well then you're on base 8, and we wouldn't have modern mathematics if we didn't have thumbs.uh, what? Krusty_The_Klown 12-01-2007, 12:40 PM We also use a Babylonian-derived system of mathematics for circles and geometry using the base number 360. Siriustar 12-01-2007, 02:02 PM Okay, well see I've never seen the Blues Brothers movie the whole way through, and I was under the impression that Elwood was on one hand and Blues was on the other. I was confused, since you generally can't even use your thumb knuckle for tattoos like that. forum_grader 12-01-2007, 02:27 PM I don't believe thumbs have anything to do with math; either way, it's irrelevant to the topic about having tattoos on your knuckles. isn't having ten (upper) digits the reason a base-ten system was adopted? Ten is highly inefficient, anyway. If we could all count in hex, values would be so much easier/faster/etc. Ryu-Nacho 12-01-2007, 07:19 PM Actually, I don't know the story behind the base-ten system. It's not something I've ever bothered to look into. So supposing it is, I wouldn't know so. After a little bit of looking around, that's probably why, but I didn't find anything concrete. forum_grader 12-02-2007, 10:00 PM it's kind of like chocolate milk. I may, provided I get the double-secret password to the midget tranny pr0n section.
