Has anyone heard of them? They're pretty much a Michigan band consisting of Meg White and Jack White according to wiki.

I have their Elephant album I have been listening to it since I got it for Easter three years ago. Mainly, I like them because they have good rhythm in their songs and pretty good vocals. Plus, they're heavy enough for my tastes but not too heavy where it kills the entire song and turns it into a mushy pile of discordantly sounding ear-rape.

They're not half-bad, excluding Icky Thump.

Why? Is it bad? I haven't heard of them recently.

They're pretty mainstream, surprised you haven't kept in touch. Icky Thump is their most popular song, I believe, and it sucks.

Too bad Chicago doesn't have a taste in music so we don't get any decent mainstream music. I've never heard of their new songs or even knew they had any albums past Elephant until recently. I heard a sample of it. I kind of like it but hey, that's just my opinion.

Here I am, in my cramped little corner of Nowheresville, listening to Thrones, while people out there in the big wide world are just discovering these crazy-popular bands.

I ask all ye forum-goers: what is up with that.

Sometimes I think when your town doesn't have much of a music scene (or none at all) you're forced to find new places to get it and dig a little deeper.

But back on topic- Everything up to and including Elephant was decent, Get Behind Me Satan was very good, and Icky Thump was sub-par.

I never actually thought about it like that, good point.

I agree that Icky Thump was the worst of The White Stripes songs, but you gotta love the guitar in it. There are some amazing portions.

Krusty makes the White Stripes sound like an upcoming new band.

It kind of is to me though. I didn't even know they had new albums until recently like I said before. Plus, their songs never come on the radio where I live.

I listened to them when Seven Nation Army was big. Well, that was really all I listened to! I did like a couple of other of their songs, but I don't listen to them regularly. I like Jack's vocals though.

I like how I so much don't care about the White Stripes that I didn't even know they were from my state. I thought they were just euro-trash.

I like the White Stripes a lot. I didn't listen to them like at all before Elephant, but most of Elephant is pretty good, although I didn't like it at all at first. GBMS is one of my favorite albums, especially Forever for Her (Is Over For Me) and Red Rain. As for the song Icky Thump I don't know what you guys are saying. I love that song.

I listened to a quick sample of Icky Thump and thought it was pretty good as well.
