View Full Version : Some of you may remember...

...me talking about the Coheed and Cambria show on November 17. Some of you may not. Anyhow, Coheed played last night and it was amazing. Two bands opened for them: Fall of Troy and Clutch.

Fall of Troy was the worst band I had ever heard. I am being completely literal and serious. The guy could play guitar (actually that's only half true; he knew how to play tap-harmonics quickly plus three or four chords) but his vocals were TERRIBLE and the rest of the band wasn't really that impressive.

Clutch was not as bad as Fall of Troy, but they still weren't very great. Their soundboard blew out halfway in to their set, so their drummer just soloed while they tried to fix it. But...they couldn't. So they stopped early and went off.

Coheed and Cambria was predictably amazing (they were right up there with Muse's last ACL show). And the fans were great too. When a guitar tech brought Claudio's Explorer out on to the stage everybody cheered and people booed the souncheck guy and told him he was the worst soundcheck guy they had ever heard. The band was insanely awesome, when they finally did come on. They played all of their biggest and/or best songs from four albums and everything sounded perfect, other than that you couldn't hear the singer because everyone was really really loud. Their set was a well-rounded one with a few nice surprises thrown in, like combining songs and changing up riffs. They encored with Welcome Home, pretty much their most heavy song, and then a sixteen-minute version of The Final Cut, a song about a guy who...umm...chops his girlfriend into pieces because she betrayed him.

Even if you don't like any of these bands, I highly recommend buying tickets to the show, if you have a little spare time and if they haven't passed your city yet.

They're not coming to my area. Barely any bands do. That's why I hope (by the way tickets are nearly sold out) that I can earn $20 within the next few days to buy Paramore tickets. But homework will obviously interfere with that :[

Man fuck homework. Musical, cultural, and life experience all come before that.

Homework is life experience... and musical and cultural experience.

I know what you mean and everything, but still.

Ok, even if you could somehow construe hw as life experience, how the hell is it musical experience?

Woot! Represent!

Pink Floyd, I take an AP Music Theory class at school, as well as band, so yes my "homework" is often a musical experience, and I wouldn't have it any other way

Ah, Paramore! Sorry, that distracted me.

Well, I don't know, Coheed and Cambria are good I guess.
My sister obsesses over them sometimes.
I haven't heard much by them, though, sadly enough.

What's your deal? Still obsessed with hating the most awesome band in the universe? Oh wait. You like Fall of Troy don't you.

I thought they were pretty cool, especially in comparison to Fall of Troy. Their drummer just solo'd for like ten full minutes while they tried to fix things but he stopped when he knew they couldn't. He was good. The singer was nothin' special, seemed like, but singers are usually less impressive onstage. The guitarist and the drummer both looked like they were trippin' hard and were about to puke, especially the guitarist. He appeared to be having an anxiety attack of some sort.

I love Coheed with a passion. I didn't at first, but once I let them grow on me...they grew on me. Fast. Especially when I got into the Amory Wars and kept up with the story.

It'll take a while before that singer's voice will "grow" on me... it's hard for me to listen to their music because I don't like his voice. It's so tinny and.... eck. >_O

He CAN sing, I'm not saying he can't.... I just... his voice is too... I dunno.

I don't see what gives them that title.

I like Coheed and Cambria a lot. Some people don't like Sanchez' voice, but besides that they're an amazing band.
