A kid at my school who was emo and heavily picked on ran into the school and then shot himself. It was sad.

Emos aren't as bad as their stereotype says. I'm friends with a few and they're very nice people, they just don't talk a lot.

Good question. As with many stereotypes, there is not one exact definition. it's ever evolving, and therefore impossible and stupid to try to put boundaries on it. And even if there was one, who cares? Let them be. They're just kids who are trying to find where they belong. They don't deserve to catch hell from everyone.

My definition of EMO is a douchebag who likes to pretend that they are suicidal and have problems when in actuallity they're just losers who think its cool to make people think you cut yourself.

I have absolutely no problem with kids who ARE depressed little chipmunks who just need some cheering up.

Other people pick on you and call you emo = sad kids :(

They are fucking retards who think they are different, unique and individuals but really they are fucking idiots all following the same trend and are all the exact same, there is nothing individual or unique about them.
They all want sympathy and pity and are nothing but attention whores and they all claim to be "bisexual" but only go with girls, usually emo girls. They put up fake suicide notes on Myspace and Bebo and what not for attention.
They listen to HORRIBLE music, like truely really shit music that has horrendous lyrics and the people in the bands all wear makeup despite the fact that they are guys.
They cover up half their face with their hair which is absoloutly stupid and makes them look like the douche bag retards they are.
They go to concerts and don't mosh, they just sit there like losers.

My sister is emo, she's the last one left at my school, everyone picks on her it's hilarious! She should move schools go to somewhere like Melba or Canberra where there are more emos. My school has a zero tolerance policy on these pussy goths.

GWIA, you need to chill out. Emo is emo. I guess some emo kids are okay, but for the most part I try to stay away from them. I mean there are kids that dress emo but are actually happy people, and those are the ones that are okay, and then there are the ones that dress even more emo and act all depressed and such, which are quite a bit more rare. I don't like the latter. It makes me feel like I've died and gone to hell.

I for one know a lot of people who have had problems with self-harm or suicidal thoughts or depression in general, who are the farthest thing from what you call "emo." It makes me sad that those kinds of things, which are REAL issues for some people, become trivialized by both the emos and the emo-haters. You're not helping any. There are some people that make themselves bleed, there are some people who leave this world and all the people who love them by choice, and we laugh. What does that say about us? Are we really any better? Maybe we're the ones who are making this world so unbearable for them.

We all have bad things at home, but you just have to suck it up and put a smile on the outside, that way we can all fit in and be normal and not some freak who breaks into tears over the tiniest little thing, suck it up and be a man.

Also Emo Guys are fucking ugly, and most emo girls I've seen are fat or just really ugly and cover their face with their oily hair.

Not everyone can 'suck it up', you see some girls cry over small things, so big things are impossible for them.
