Natus Lumen 06-26-2007, 02:51 PM Marilyn Manson is giving emo kids across the nation a reason to cut themselves...not that they need one. He's accusing My Chemical Romance for...of all things...
A week after Marilyn Manson revealed that "Mutilation Is the Most Sincere Form of Flattery," one of the tracks on his latest LP, Eat Me, Drink Me, was directed at My Chemical Romance — Manson believes the band has ripped him off — MCR frontman Gerard Way responded to Manson's comments in the British magazine Rock Sound. "We still haven't found someone that has knocked us down that we need to take seriously. If Elvis Costello said we sucked, we would think about it a bit, but usually it is comments from someone with a new record to promote, so the remarks ring hollow." Manson had said in an interview with The London Paper that he was "embarrassed to be me because these people are doing a really sad, pitiful, shallow version of what I've done." ...
There's also this... (http://www.nme.com/news/marilyn-manson/28753). It's because of MCR's new video, Teenagers, which I haven't watched, but apparently MCR pulled an MM.
It's a shame there was no lawsuit. It would be the best one since OJ.
I thought this was a little too important for the music thread.
MrNaPaLm32 06-26-2007, 03:14 PM I thought this was a little too important for the music thread.Did I miss something?
Nicky 06-26-2007, 04:49 PM I guess I might as well post Iero's reaction:
My Chemcial Romance guitarist Frank Iero has responded to claims by Marilyn Manson that the New Jersey emo titans are mere copycats.
Manson previously blasted MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, saying he was embarrassed because "these people are doing a really sad, pitiful, shallow version of what I've done."
Speaking exclusively to Kerrang! magazine, guitarist Frank Iero answered back to Manson's taunting.
"We're Marilyn Manson fans," said Iero. "I think he's really cool. The funny thing is that he seems to have lashed out at us about the make-up. That's weird to me, because I had heard of Alice Cooper before I heard of Marilyn Manson. I don't know how he could be mad at us. We never came out and said we were going to call ourselves by girl's name and then a serial killer's name.
"I'm really sorry if he feels we ripped him off," he added. "It would have been nice if he could have said something to our faces but he's been all smiles every time I've seen him. Maybe he's doing it for the press. Some people just like to talk..."
And I don't know what the heck Manson is talking about. Teenagers is more a spoof of Nirvana and Pink Floyd.... it has zero resemblance to anything I've ever seen Manson do (but I don't think this is about Teenagers... O_o). But whatever... I don't really consider this a major problem. No one seems to be taking it very seriously.
And here's the link to Teenagers (http://youtube.com/watch?v=-_X-dv0GMJY), if you're interested. Yes... it's a cheap version, but at least there's no censorship.
diet poop 06-26-2007, 09:07 PM I hate Marilyn Manson, he makes his money by being a total asshole.
Hmm...what can I do to piss off everyone today?
I know I'll wipe my ass with the american flag while prending to orgasm! Then People will like me! **goes and does that**
*Coming up next week, Marilyn has a dog lick his testicles on stage while playing a bagpipe!*
I will admit one thing, I did enjoy "Fire and Ice".
Led_Zeppelin 06-26-2007, 09:28 PM A bunch of creature bands/singers, who cares?
Nicky 06-26-2007, 10:32 PM It makes for slightly interesting conversation.... I think?
gussa 06-26-2007, 11:37 PM god it sounds like two teenage preppy cheerleaders having an aggravated clash via their social network....
(it does truly sound like it)
Nicky 06-26-2007, 11:45 PM Not really... Manson's basically doing it all himself. As is Bert McCracken...
gussa 06-26-2007, 11:46 PM i mean the way the two are talking about one another...
Nicky 06-26-2007, 11:51 PM I guess... though It's a pretty safe bet that their labels are making them do this... with the exception of McCracken.
Natus Lumen 06-28-2007, 01:16 PM Iero's response is so typical of the type of person everyone makes him out to be:
OmG liek 1f he haz a probl3mZ0rz with m3 h3 can liek say i7 2 mai faces. H3 just w4nts atTenchenzorz.
Also, I agree with Gussa in that how immature and immasculine they both sound. I dislike MCR's music, and I like Marilyn Manson's music, but I think that MCR does a little more to have a better public image.
Nicky 06-28-2007, 01:26 PM ya wel it waz mansin who started it!!1!1
happylittleClayFox 06-28-2007, 03:05 PM -sigh- I haven't heard anything about Manson in ages. His stuff isn't at all bad though he is somewhat creepy, which is good. MCR, I hope they all get social diseases. Preferably some form of super facial herpes which cannot be blocked or treated. That will teach them.
Nicky 06-28-2007, 03:09 PM Teach them what?
NOWAK 06-28-2007, 03:12 PM Teach them what?
To stop making horrible music....
Nicky 06-28-2007, 03:16 PM I'm trying to come up with a less cliché way to say "They're not forcing you to listen to their music"
...but alas, I cannot think of one.....
Natus Lumen 06-28-2007, 03:28 PM Facial herpes? Never heard of that one. But then again one wouldn't...
Anyhow, Manson is not nearly as bad as people see him. He does some very subjective things at times, like DP said, but you hear all these things about how he's always going to these prestigious universities like NYU and Stanford and giving lectures on philosophy and theology.
At one point I thought his video for "Personal Jesus" was scary, but then I watched some of his older videos and...ummm...I would post some of them here, but I don't want to get banned.
NOWAK, I like your avatar.
Nicky 06-28-2007, 03:33 PM MM seems like the type of person who seems like a psychopath until you meet them, and they're actually very nice.
happylittleClayFox 06-28-2007, 03:52 PM MM is one person, you cannot meet "them" if he is one person. Usually in cases like that, just use the gender as a pronoun, your English teacher will thank you. Furthermore, have you actually met Marilyn Manson?
NOWAK 06-28-2007, 05:45 PM NOWAK, I like your avatar.
I thought it would be annoying but ok. :)

I am aware that Marilyn Manson is in fact, the title of a singular man, who's real name is Brian Hugh Warner. However, Marilyn Manson is also the name of his band... "Marilyn Manson". Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to meet Marilyn Manson in person, which is why I said he STRIKES me as someone who seems nice.
gussa 06-28-2007, 10:00 PM Facial herpes? Never heard of that one.
you've never heard of chicken pox?
diet poop 06-29-2007, 12:32 AM Facial herpes? Never heard of that one. But then again one wouldn't...
Uh, what do you think a cold sore is? It's the same virus as the herp.
gussa 06-29-2007, 07:34 AM but on your face!!!
(eww i have herpes under my nose!)
Nicky 06-29-2007, 11:22 AM That's a funny word.... herpes.
gussa 06-30-2007, 12:09 AM you think its funny?
Nicky 06-30-2007, 01:20 PM Not the meaning, just the sound. It's because of YuGiOh abridged... now whenever I hear the word I can't help but laugh. -_- Though I do feel bad about it.
Natus Lumen 07-01-2007, 01:20 PM @DP: didn't teach us that in health.
Speaking of STDs...
How we should all learn about the evils of the world. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=2fvHsh8wi8E)
poisonedcandy_X 07-01-2007, 04:23 PM I already heard about that though.
Since they didn't copy him at all,
he needs to stop begging for attention and get over it.
They're totally way better anyway.

*Edit: Oops, I guess by being on-topic, I was kind of off-topic. Whatever. [:
gussa 07-01-2007, 10:34 PM it happens....
Natus Lumen 07-01-2007, 10:53 PM Marilyn Manson is awesome. He's a little wierd, but he's awesome.
Now I have to go find out why the 'Gesture' thread was closed and laugh at NOWAK in a PM if you'll excuse me.
gussa 07-01-2007, 11:03 PM NOWAK closed it after i told him the meaning of the gesture.....
gabrielwhist 07-02-2007, 03:51 AM Not the meaning, just the sound. It's because of YuGiOh abridged... now whenever I hear the word I can't help but laugh. -_- Though I do feel bad about it.
I know how you feel. I always crack up when I hear the word diabetes, because of that add on TV. You know the one with the dude who has a massive bushy beard, and he says "now you can get all your diabetes medication delivered right to your door, at little or no cost to you!" And he pronouncs it like die-ah-bee-tus. I know I'm horribly but it always cracks me up.

I closed it to avoid any more stupid replies, and I already knew what it meant gussa just making sure it did mean something different.
Natus Lumen 07-02-2007, 10:32 AM I know. I went and looked.
